Local Lime (Little Rock, AR)

I'll go ahead and apologize in advance for all the pictures. Being a new restaurant means lots of buzz, and since pictures speak loudly (or so I'm told), I was sure to take a few.

I'd first like to disclose my bias. I'm a huge fan of John Beachboard and Scott McGehee. My wife and I have enjoyed the pizza and salads at Zaza's for a while now, and one need only look over this blog to know my opinions on Big Orange. It should come as no surprise, then, that when I heard the pair were going to tackle tacos, I got really, really excited.

Our initial experience at Local Lime, located near the Tavern in the Promenade Shopping center, was excellent. The food lived up to expectations. The service was helpful and on target. Everything about this restaurant says it will be around a while.

FULL MENU PICS:

Our dinner as follows:

1) Started with Salsas (Tomatillo, Zucchini, and Tres Chiles)-- all of which were amazing.
2) Had the Market Corn-- smokey and delicious.
3) I had the carnitas tacos, Blair the Potato/Zucchini tacos. We tried all the sides minus the lime rice. Really quite delicious and traditional with a modern flair.
4) Cocktails of Frozen Margaritia and a Honey Swizel. Delicious.

Menu:
Great variety, including tapas, big and small plates. Typically restricted and focuses on delivering a few good items instead of a plethora of choices. This isn't your typical mexican place, nor is the direction coastal mexican (like a Cantina Loredo or Cozymel's) but instead truly central American. Great beverage selection as well.

Food:
Delicious, flavorful and deep. While the food is elevated, it maintains some of its rustic charm. Be adventurous.

Atmosphere
Warm and cozy. More earthy and rustic than ZaZa's or Big Orange, and a little less hip. Unfortunately seating is a little limited due to location. Nice patio.

Service:
Great service. Being a new restaurant, it's important that the staff is familiar with the menu and I found this to be true. Attentive and friendly.
