Favorite: Breakfast/Brunch

I love breakfast for the simple fact that you can have nearly anything. Fruit? Sure! Eggs? Absolutely! Chicken and Waffles? Yes.... Breakfast is the only meal that you can eat in place of another meal. Think about it: "Breakfast for Dinner." You never eat "Dinner for Breakfast." Breakfast is so versatile, so open to possibilities that creativity is expected. Pancakes take on the shapes of favorite characters. Eggs can be cooked a hundred different ways. Sweet and savory combine.

In brief, we love breakfast.

Favorite Breakfast/Brunch Locations:

1) B-Side -- Diner-esque, with little less concern for ambiance than it's parent (Lily's DimSum) and more for taste. Great food, a wide variety from the French-Toast Kabobs to the Shrimp and Grits to the Chicken and Waffles.
2) Ashley's-- The select 3 courses Sunday brunch is a morning culinary experience. The southern chefs take the open palate of breakfast and do amazing things with it. Slightly pricey.
3) Cafe Bossa Nova-- Brazilian influenced breakfast. It helps that Rosalia knows how to bake, because her little Pao de Queijo (cheese donuts) are scrumptious. The Panquecas de Frango (chicken crepes) are melt in your mouth good.

Close Runner's Up:

1) Red Door -- A southwest flair, good traditional and non-traditional items, smaller and more intimate than the mother restaurant (Loca Luna).
2) Loca Luna -- Broad selection and good cocktails. Food is good (sometimes a bit overdone), but all in all a solid choice.
3) Ozark Smokehouse -- Southern breakfast done right. Not a huge selection, but everything is tasty. Think mom's kitchen. They make their own bacon. That alone should take you there.
4) Delicious Temptations -- a combination of breakfast joint and sandwich shop.

For the Sweet Tooth:

1) Rosalias -- Pastries, and empanadas (mmmmm....)

Chains that still do pretty good:

1) YaYa's-- A little pricey, but really quite good.
2) Mimi's-- This is a clutch, go to place when other places are closed, you're close by, or you really just want a muffin.
3) Waffle House-- There, I said it. I love Waffle House. Grease and smoke laden, cramped and always busy, cheap coffee and ok service. But it is still a favorite.

Haven't Eaten Breakfast Here But Supposedly It's Good:
1) Alley Oops (Saturday Only)
2) Trio's (Sunday Only)
