Chicken and dumplings |
On the recommendation of a friend, we hit up the
Southern Gourmasian food truck yesterday for lunch. I'd heard great things about the spicy chicken and dumplins (billed as "not your mama's chicken and dumplins), and was excited to try them. In addition to the dumplings, we got the steamed buns (with Pork Shoulder) and the special of the day: Potato Gnocchi with Beef Shortrib and baby BokChoy

Beef Shortrib and Gnocchi |
Little Rock has a variety of food trucks, and like many great food cities across the country, the trend is on the rise. Besides
Southern Gourmasian, there's also
Banana Leaf (Indian),
Homegrown Gourmet (Seafood mostly), and the ever name changing
Taqueria Jalisco (Mexican). A couple of things to keep in mind when hitting a food truck: Most of them are only open for lunch, most only take cash, and their location is variable. The best thing to do is to add them on facebook or favorite their website so you can see where they are and what their specials for the day may be.

Menu: ★★★★☆
With a great, stable daily menu and every evolving specials, I give these guys a very hearty "Well Done." It wouldn't surprise me if they move out of the truck some day, and have a fantastic sit down establishment.

Bursting with flavors. The steamed buns are light and make a great lunch, despite their heavy-sounding centers, the dumplings are sweet, sour, spicy, crunchy, squishy, and all around one of my favorite foods ever. Ever. Give'em a try.
